Yucan Canoe is a totally encompassing experience that takes you
through the Whanganui National Park within the customary way of those Maori that
lived there in a former time. We cater for those people who not only want to enjoy the beautiful scenery, but may want to get to meet other
interesting people, another culture and the river.
Welcome to our website. We hope you find it useful and
interesting.
Yucan Canoe has, for in excess of twenty years now, offered groups
the opportunity to experience a camping/canoeing trip on te awa o Whanganui as
it flows through the Whanganui National Park
These trips are organised to your groups convenience and the degree
of support can range from a totally catered service to one of just guiding your
group safely through the rapids, while having the history explained.
Immersion in the local culture is a special service that few others
offer. The local culture is fully explained and practiced in a ‘safe' way.
Many diverse groups have often expressed their comfort in the Maori
culture while on the awa (river). Expressions such as "I never once felt my own
cultural background threatened" are very common.
Personal safety and comfort is the practiced
philosophy of Yucan Canoe.
Experienced guides assist
in this regard on each trip.
Family trips are a specialty. Children can be safely accommodated.
